Singing bowls & their benefits
The gentle vibration of the singing bowls leads to deep relaxation of the body and mind. Based on ancient traditions, the treatment supports recovery, calms the nervous system and strengthens the connection to inner balance and well-being.
TRADITIONS & ORIGIN OF SOUND BOWL RELAXATION
Singing bowl relaxation is a thousands-year-old method that has been used for body and mind care and meditation. The bowls are originated in East Asia; Burma, China and Northern India, from where they spread to Nepal and Tibet, among others. Singing bowls arrived in Europe in the 1960s and have become very popular in Finland as a comprehensive deep relaxation method. Singing bowls are still made by hand in Nepal, meaning that each bowl made there is unique and vibrates individually.

The power of singing bowl therapy is based on resonance, or co-vibration. Singing bowls produce natural and harmonious overtones that are felt and sensed in our bodies. The therapy affects us through our sense of hearing, brain waves, anatomy, and energy levels.
The human body is 45–75% fluid, depending on age and body fat.
The vibrations of the singing bowls travel through fluids to the muscles, internal organs, nervous system, bones, brain and cells, allowing the treatment to be holistically focused on the entire body and mind.
Body reactions are normal. The treatment can be very intense for some and various body sensations may occur. If you are hypersensitive, you can try the treatment lightly and if necessary, you can move on to playing the bowls only outside the body.
BENEFITS OF SOUND BOWL RELAXATION
Singing bowl therapy can:
maintain health and well-being
-
balances body and mind
-
strengthens the body's own vibration
During the treatment, brain waves can drop from beta levels to alpha and theta levels, a state between sleep and wakefulness. The client may experience a moment just before falling asleep on several occasions, and even if they do not fall into a deep sleep, an hour of treatment can be equivalent to up to three hours of deep sleep.
Singing bowl therapy aims to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (resting nervous system) and calm the sympathetic nervous system (stress nervous system), which promotes overall relaxation and well-being.
